Do you have any idea how many girls want to be Belle?
Personally, Ariel's my girl forever and ever. I mean, she's got red hair and went to all lengths to win love. Pritty awesome in my book.
But, hey, I can give Belle her props too. She reads. She's a brunette. She's not superfisical. The girl's defintely okay. But gosh darnnit, every brunette wants to be her - and DO YOU KNOW how many brunettes are in the world?
Anyways, giving Bree a chance to be her princess since I never finished her Ron Weasley picture (I couldn't get the perspective right). Here. Hopes this makes up for it, just a little bit.
Esmeralda is technically not a princess, but yes, she rules hardcore.
Neither is Meg (by Disney guidlines), but she's awesome too.
Cinderella is better Snow White - at least, Cindy actually DID something,
like defy her stepmother and go to the ball.
She's like a little rebel, in her own right.
Snow White just doesn't DO ANYTHING.
Oh, scratch that, she cleans.
Whoop-de-doo.
Snow White... I do envy her... she got to sleep through a year (or something like that). But can she get a LITTLE BACK BONE!!! And she's supposed to be a role model for girls!
I wouldn't have mind if she, you know, did something other than runaway, clean, and sleep before being "swept off her feet" by her prince.
And how can Esmeralda NOT be a princess! She's a Gypsy Princess!! (no you can't tell me differently, if Cinderella can be a princess so can Esmeralda and Meg, though I'm not sure right now what she's the princess of...)
(Dear god... could it be that my life is now at the point that I pick apart Disney princesses...

I was going off the "Disney standards."
You know, since Esmeralda isn't mentioned to be a princess and she only marries a captain, she technically isn't.
However, I think they should stop merchandising "Disney Princesses" and change it to "Disney Heroines" or "Disney Girls."
Because then you could include all the Disney chicks, like Alice and Wendy and Tinkerbell.
Plus, Disney doesn't even promote all their princesses!
Technically, the chick (Kida, I think, is her name) from Atlantis and Eilonwy (Black Cauldron) are princesses too,
but are recognized because their movies were flops.
The only Disney girl that shouldn't be included is Lilo from Lilo and Stitch, because I have disowned that movie.
( really, really, really hate it.)
(In certain versions of the Greek/Roman myths, Meg is a princess from Thebes.)
(You want to talk about your life going down hill? I'll jump with you.)
I did a little searching... and even though Sleeping Beauty is considered a princess (seriously... she's worse than Snow White, because even she did something other than sleep) They Who Control Disney say that Pocahontas is a Princess (I was really worried about that)!! And So is Mulan...(which is kinda weird, because she married a General...) and Jasmine (who I do like, and I was kinda worried about too.)
"In 2007, Disney announced that a new Princess would be added: Princess Tiana, from their 2009 animated feature The Princess and the Frog, will become the first African American princess to join the ranks of Disney Princesses"
There are 9 Disney Princesses... I like 5, (I just haven't seen one yet, so maybe 6) so they are doing something at least kind of right. (But I think All the princesses that I do like have been created a little before I was born to now... )

Yeah, the Mulan issues bugs me, because by that standard, they should just include every Disney chick out there.
Way ahead of you on the Tiana news. Originally her name was Maddy, but all PC peeps rose up and b*tched that "Maddy" sounded too much like a slave name. Plus, she was going to be a chambermaid (very Cinderella-esque), which they've also changed due to everyone protesting that it was too much like "slavery." Yah know, there was racism in Pocahontas movie and that was GREAT movie, because it was before they started bubble-wrapping kids. Oh and the original title was going to be "The Frog Princess," but somehow someone misinterpreted that as bashing the French.
Anyways, I love Sleeping Beauty the movie, but mainly because Prince Phillip is freakin' hott and Malecifent (sp?) is one of most hardcore villians.
Mulan *did* save China... but that's no excuse, really. Even if she does it in drag.
Everyone is trying to be so PC, that it's starting to ruin Disney movies. Back when they made Pocahontas, they weren't worried about people being offended, they wanted to make a good movie with a moral theme to it. And for the most part, they make classics. I don't see any of the movies they have made in the last 10 years being classic.
And it should be the Frog Princess, if only because it can be misinterpreted as French Bashing... because anyone that can turn Frog Princess in to an insult is WAY to sensitive.
(Once upon a time in a land far away, a beautiful, independent,self-assured princess happened upon a frog as she sat contemplating ecological issues on the shores of an unpolluted pond in a verdant meadow near her castle.
The frog hopped into the princess' lap and said:
" Elegant Lady, I was once a handsome prince, until an evil witch cast a spell upon me. One kiss from you, however, and I will turn back into the dapper, young prince that I am; and then, my sweet, we can marry and set up housekeeping in your castle with my mother, where you can prepare my meals, clean my clothes, bear my children, and forever feel grateful and happy doing so. "
That night, as the princess dined sumptuously on lightly sauteed frog legs seasoned in a white wine and onion cream sauce, she chuckled and thought to herself:
"I don't freakin' think so.")

PC is killing children's movies, in my opinion. I mean, it's okay to show racism, as long as you explain in the movie that racism is not okay. The moral should be showing how wrong that way of thinking is.
Plus, if white Cinderella can sweep floors, why can't a black princess do the same? As long as she gets to overcome her situation, why is that unPC? I think it's only fair.
Now the concept art for Tiana looks like something out the Proud Family... *sigh* I hope Disney can create something good out of this muddled mess the PC hecklers have made.
